Who are you?
I get this question a lot; both in the professional world and my own personal life. In sum? I’m 24 years young, married, and a fur mama. That’s the quick version; the version I tell those who are rushed and want the CliffsNotes edition (do people still even use CliffsNotes?). But in actuality, I am so much more than those defining words. We all are. That’s the wonderful part about all of us – No one is you, and that is your defining power. Everyone has something unique that they bring to the table and if we listen, we learn more and more about one another every single day.
Here’s the long version.
Yes, I am 24. I’m continuing my 19+ years of formal education in law school where I am studying anything and everything about international law (yes, you can fulfill your wanderlust while pursuing higher education. I’ve done it, twice). I earned my Bachelors degree in Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (Go, Titans!) and learned more about myself in five years than I could have ever imagined.
Yes, I am married. I married my wonderful husband, Christopher, at the ripe age of 23. We were high school sweethearts in the traditional “He was a football player, she was a cheerleader” sense. The wonderful thing about marrying young is we have been able to find our passions alongside one another and navigate life together as best friends.
Yes, I am a mother, but not in the traditional definition of the term. The home I share with my husband is filled with critters of all shapes and sizes who have become our children, extending our family to a sizable 7.
I always have a strong urge for wanderlust and a good meal – mutually inclusive or exclusive. Seeing new places and meeting new friends along the way is what I live for. My bucket list is large and my dreams are even bigger.
